HELSEL, INC., REALTORS®, founded in 1929, is the oldest industrial and commercial real estate firm in Central Pennsylvania. Our primary focus revolves around commercial sales, leasing, appraisals, property management, development and counseling.  Our geographic area of operation is Central Pennsylvania, although our scope of cooperating associates is nationwide.

Our expertise is well known in the management, leasing and appraising of office buildings, apartment complexes and commercial developments in the Central Pennsylvania area. We have also been involved with the development of three principal industrial parks in the Harrisburg area: Hampden Industrial Park in Camp Hill, Pa., Lucknow Industrial Park, Harrisburg and Rutherford Industrial Center, Harrisburg-East.

Our Associates hold individual memberships in the Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors®, the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors® and the National Association of Realtors® and through affiliation hold individual memberships in the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors® (SIOR), the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute (CCIM), the Institute of Real Estate Management (CPM), the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE) and the Real Estate Business Institute (REBI). We also hold membership in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS).

To date, four from the family have been President of the Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors®. Three members of the family have been President of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors®. Three members have been Regional Vice Presidents of the National Association of Realtors® and two members have been Treasurer of the National Association of Realtors® - the largest professional trade association in the world.

We are involved in the management of office facilities , warehouses and single family residential units.  Currently, we manage approximately 260 residential units and 25,000 sq.ft. of office facilities. As Members of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) we are trained in asset management as well. Carrying the CPM designation indicates the depth of education and practical experience that should be expected.

Helsel, Inc. Realtors has been a prominent appraisal firm since 1929.  Mr. Ben G. Helsel, SRPA, founded the company, and Mr. James Helsel, MAI, SREA served nearly every corporate, public entity and financing vehicle in the Central Pennsylvania area. 

Today, our appraisers, all of whom are Generally Certified and meet the requirements of USPAP, carry on the work of our predecessors. They provide valuation services in a timely fashion to meet the needs of lending institutions, attorneys, corporate clients and individuals that consistently satisfy the requirements of County Assessors to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Occasionally we find that our clients aren't in need of brokerage services.  They are, however, in need of expertise to help them understand various real property issues, including leasing and sale issues, negotiating techniques and, frequently, development criteria. Such expertise is best provided by a certified Counselor of Real Estate (CRE). To become a Member of the Counselors of Real Estate you must be invited to join.  This prestigious organization limits membership to those that have the knowledge and experience  to assist clients with matters that often go well beyond brokerage services.  Mr. James L. Helsel was invited to join in 2003 and is an integral part of a group that often works confidentially on behalf of our clients.
